Healing is her way of life

Seldom people achieve what they dream. And if you get an opportunity to realize your dream, you not only try to fulfill your aspirations but do best to make a mark. Though there always remain gaps and at times you feel being pushed in the reverse gear, but still you keep trying to achieve your goal to the best of your capability. Here is a classical case where a freak incident 30 years ago in front of Sangita, made her take a pledge to become a doctor. It was the hot summer month of May when a bird accidentally flew into a room and got entangled in the blades of a high speed ceiling fan. The bird fell down and Sangita, then studying in class IV, tried in vain to save her life. ‘Had I been a doctor, I would have saved her life’, cried Sangita and then took a pledge to become a doctor. “The White coat (Apron) has always fascinated me otherwise as I always looked at doctors and asked myself ‘whether I would also be like them one day’, says she. Years passed but she did not forget the incident. Rather, it kept pestering her to ensure that she did not lose the opportunity to qualify the Combined Pre-Medical Test (CPMT). The branch of medicine did not really matter to her because she wanted to pursue the science of healing. And she straight away qualified the Homoeopathic stream. “I thought I will be able to fulfill my dream”, she remarked. “I devoted all my energies to clear the B.H.M.S. with flying colours and ensure that I can practice whatever I have been taught by my teachers when I start serving the mankind”. Today Dr. Sangita has put in 29 years both in the private and government service as Homoeopath by attending to unspecified number of patients and provided relief to them. ‘I not only prescribe medicines to my patients but I always pray to God before giving prescription that whatever medicines I have given should relieve the patient of the ailment. The divine power has in most cases helped me because my intentions are to cure a patient and not to mint money’, she said. Today Dr. Sangita is serving as Medical Officer at National Homoeopathic Medical College (NHMC), Lucknow. Her interest area include Mental problems, Cardiac diseases, Skin infections of all kinds and children’s diseases. She wants to consolidate her knowledge in homoeopathy by undertaking couple of research projects. She thinks the modern tool of diagnostics has an important role to play coupled with science of homoeopathy. I have watched Sangita grow in the field from her early days and would wish her all the success in the field she admires most. She knows she has the support of Tathagat and Anushree, her two kids who always believe that their mother would emerge victorious.
